You are building your online business and there are many things that need to be done. Usually there is an order that works best.

You don’t ice a cake before it is baked or ice it while it is still in the baking pan or while it is hot. There is an order that results in a beautiful cake.

Additionally, training yourself to focus on one step at a time  and follow it through to completion before moving on to the next is a skill well worth developing. Multi-tasking is a myth and doesn’t work well most of the time. You end up with a bunch of half-finished projects and your business is still not working efficiently or at all in some cases and you don’t feel productive. Nothing is happening but you are spending a lot of time at it.

How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time.

Rome wasn’t built in a day.

How do you run a marathon? One step at a time!!

Building your online business is no different. Be patient.

Have a plan. Planning gives you structure. Map out the big picture of your business and make a high-level plan, then fill in the details and make a list. Working with a coach or business strategist can help you create an effective and efficient plan for your business that will save you time and energy.

If you do three items on your list each day, in a year you will have completed almost 1,100 tasks. That is awesome!

Done is better than perfect. Nothing online is permanent and you can always go back and review, update, improve, rewrite. In fact, you will want to make changes down the road.

AND it will never be perfect! Beware of the prison of perfection. It can slow you down or stop you in your tracks.

Sometimes you will find that a task is too big or too trivial. If you have a step that is stopping you, break it down into smaller, easier-to-tackle steps. That way you feel like you are winning!!  Chunk up small steps into a bigger step to start building momentum.

Once you take the pressure off yourself, have a plan and have mapped out the steps you need to take, you will feel free and able to tackle more than you had been able to in the past. Momentum is a great thing!!
